St. Louis, Mo., August, 15, 2012 – Miriam Foundation of Webster Groves, Mo., is among 11 businesses and two charities that will be presented with BBB TORCH Awards for exceptional ethical business practices and customer service from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois on Nov. 2.
Miriam Foundation, a BBB Accredited Charity, has been providing services to the St. Louis community for 102 years. In accordance with its mission of improving the quality of life for children with learning disabilities and their families, Miriam Foundation oversees and supports two comprehensive and innovative programs, Miriam School and Miriam Learning Center.
Executive Director Andy Thorp said the foundation strives to operate like a business. It won a grant from the Deaconess Foundation to help it craft a business plan for sustainability.
“We want to be good stewards of people’s trust in us and their resources,” Thorp said.
The BBB will present the TORCH Awards at a luncheon on Friday, Nov. 2 at the Chase Park Plaza. Tickets for the luncheon are available at $50 a person, or $500 for a table of 10.
