St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 14, 2011 – Joanie Taylor, director of consumer affairs and community relations for Schnuck Markets Inc., has been elected chairman of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1, 2012.
Taylor succeeds Mary C. Kullman, chief governance officer and corporate secretary of The Laclede Group Inc.
“Because Schnucks has always believed in giving customers a voice, it has been my privilege to serve as an advocate for the last 25 years,” Taylor said. “Because the BBB strives to build trust between consumers and businesses, it is my honor to serve as chair next year.”
Taylor, a former elementary school teacher, has led Schnucks’ consumer affairs department since 1986. She and her team represent the customer in all company matters. She also serves on several industry and community boards and committees.
BBB board members elected Taylor and other officers Nov. 7 at the BBB’s annual meeting. The others elected were:
- Vice Chairman—Joe Schmelzle, senior director of agency development and customer service, United Van Lines.
- Treasurer—Robert J. Hoffmann, president of Hoffmann Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.
- Secretary—Larry Giglio, senior vice president—operations at Graybar.
- Director-at-large—T. William White, senior vice president at Commerce Bank.
Kullman remains on the board as immediate past chair. Michelle L. Corey was re-elected president and CEO of the BBB.
