St. Louis, Mo., September 30, 2009 – Crider Health Center of Wentzville, Mo., is among two charities and ten businesses who are winners of TORCH Awards for exceptional ethical business practices from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Crider, named for founder and activist Jane Crider, was formed 30 years ago to serve children and adults with mental illness. Since then, it has expanded to provide primary health care, pediatrics and dental care in addition to mental health services for a four-county area with a staff of 250. Crider has locations in St. Charles, O’Fallon, Troy, Wentzville, Washington and Warrenton, all in Missouri. Services are targeted to under-insured, uninsured and low-income residents of its service area.
Karl Wilson, president and CEO, attributes its success to an emphasis on helping people take control of their own lives. It draws support from government, foundations, the United Way and private donations. It is a BBB Accredited Charity.
The BBB will present the TORCH Awards at a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 30 at the Chase Park Plaza. Tickets for the luncheon are available at $40 a person, or $400 for a table of 10. Patron tables for 10 are available for $1,500. Reservations can be made by calling 314-645-3300.
